How to Fish Killscore, Trick Payouts & 360s

The last shot can pay more than the fish. Trophies still never go on the grill for style points.

Killscore & Multipliers

Killscore is How to Fish’s combat comedy economy. You reel a creature onto land (or into the air), kill it, and the game prints a multiplier on that kill. Higher Killscore means a fatter NPC payday when you feed the corpse. It is not a hidden RPG stat sheet and it is not a documented 3× spreadsheet in official patch notes. It is physics plus showmanship through Patch 1.0.10.

Never farm Killscore on a quest trophy. Shell, Skeleton, fin, head, and Whale Fin are Radar items. Style the steaks after the weird piece is in a pocket. Items is the do-not-sell list.

How payout actually moves

Catch, drag inland so the thing cannot flop home, then finish it. Launching a fish and shooting it mid-air is the trailer fantasy PC Gamer joked about and the practical way to stack style. Trick shots — bounces, no-scopes, 360 hipfire — are the same family. Full stunt list: Trick Shots.

Press F on a body to read value and the current Killscore. Early clams are not the farm. Later-island lures already pay more per kill; multipliers on those bodies are how Rich! Millionaire (sell something worth 100,000+) becomes realistic without roulette.

Cooking stacks with value (about 1.5× on a good grill pull, lava on Volcano with no timing window). You can cook after a stylish kill. Burnt food collapses value and is its own achievement if you eat it. Cooking.

Achievements on this meter

  • Noob — a kill with no multiplier. Easy to trip over while learning. Do it on purpose on a cheap crab if you want the row gone.
  • Impressive — a kill at Killscore. Practice on weak Island 2 fish, not on Pufferfish.
  • 360 no scope — full 360 hipfire kill, no scope. Lower the health first, then spin and finish. A sniper on Rocks makes the joke readable.

Difficulty from 1.0.9 does not document extra Killscore. Easy/Hard change creature health and damage, which only changes how long you have to pose.

Co-op can share the payday when one player launches and another finishes. Call trophies out loud in eight-player rooms so nobody 360s the Shell. Patch 1.0.10 capped explosion velocity; dynamite launches for style still work but loot flies less often into the void.

What Killscore is not

It is not a weather event. It is not a code. It is not required to leave the Lighthouse. Beginners who stall Island 1 for 5× on shrimp delay Forest shops that actually matter. Use Money-Making for sell routes and this page for the last-shot habit.

Seagulls steal landed fish and can erase a multiplier you already earned. Shoot the bird. Seagulls.

A practice loop that does not stall the Radar

Park on Forest with Beginner Lure and a shotgun. Reel a cheap fish inland, launch it, and finish in the air. Read F. If the multiplier is trash, you grazed it on the sand first. If Impressive will not pop, you are not at 5× — keep the fish weaker, not the gun bigger. Move the 360 drill to Rocks when a sniper makes the spin readable.

Stop the drill the moment a quest corpse is on the sand. Style points on Giant Piranha or Albatross are how lobbies lose a Skeleton in the water. Patch 1.0.10 explosion caps make dynamite launches safer for loot, not a reason to yeet the Shell.

Rich! Millionaire is still a sell achievement. Killscore is the last-shot habit that makes later-island corpses hit that number without a lucky roulette spin.
