How to Fish Volcano Island — Whale & RHIB
Five native fish, Fish Bucket, carcass in the crater, Fin to the scientist, then start the RHIB.
Volcano is Island 5, the pink Radar marker north of Rocks, after the Albatross Head hand-in. Military tents, a hazmat scientist, lava, and the Assault Rifle shop share one rock. This is the story finale and the usual Fully equipped / Handyman / Bean checkpoint. Credits do not roll when the mutated whale dies. You still need the Fin, the keys, and the RHIB start. Boundary: FANART & PATCH 1.0.10.
Patch 1.0.4 nerfed Whale health and made the intended path up this island easier to see. Patch 1.0.10 slightly nerfed Anglerfish. Fight on flat military ground. Pulling the boss too far can reset the encounter.

Foot Snails sit on the ground. Do not waste a Scientific Lure looking for them in the pool. Five volcano-native catches fed to the scientist produce the Fish Bucket. Clams from the Lighthouse do not count. The bucket summons the regular Bowhead Whale. Kill it, carry the whole body up the planks, and throw it into the crater. That spawn is the Mutated Bowhead Whale.
Shop and kit
Buy the Assault Rifle and every attachment you can afford (Fully equipped). Hard mode from Patch 1.0.9 wants that kit. Easy mode lets Bean runners survive with less. Cook lava fish for heals — about 1.5× with no grill minigame. Dip dirty guns in water after 1.0.10. Scientific Boss Lure is Goblin Shark money, not the story bait.
Finale and RHIB
Loot the Whale Fin. Carry it to the scientist. Take the military / RHIB keys. Walk to the RHIB and start it. That last interaction plays the ending and We are so back. Leaving the Fin on the sand, or assuming the kill is enough, is how crews stare at a silent volcano.
Handyman: guns are legal until a sliver of health remains; unequip everything including knuckles and punch. Bean: this island is on the clock after the 1.0.5 lock — Bean. After credits you may roam every unlocked island for Fishipedia, GOLD GOLD GOLD, and leftover Drip.
Ground stashes (64 items) are useful at the military camp. Quest trophies still belong in inventory before you board the RHIB.
Co-op and what not to throw in lava
Eight-player rooms make the Fin a magnet. Call it, pocket it, then cook. The lava story step is the regular Bowhead carcass only. Pets, Bing Bong, Goblin Shark, and random rifles do not spawn the mutated fight. If the encounter resets, you dragged the whale too far off the military flats — reset on the sand, not in the crater.
Clients cannot skip the scientist by buying Scientific Boss Lure. The bucket is a hand-in. Hosts should not start the RHIB until everyone who wants We are so back is on the rock; the achievement is a finish, not a shared cutscene you can AFK through from Forest.
Seagulls still spawn here. They will steal a Fin you set down to reload. Seagulls. After credits, Scientific Lure remains the Volcano encyclopedia bait; Dual Motors does not change the pool.
